The Police Senior Command underwent a 3-day media training to enhance police and public relations through various media and social media platforms available.
The senior command spent the three days visiting different newsrooms including fijivillage.
Police say it was an opportunity for the senior officers to witness how newsrooms operate on a daily basis by understanding the reach that each media organisation has in as far as readership, listenership, viewership, and community policing initiatives between the media and Fiji Police Force were explored.
The three day workshop was being jointly facilitated by the Fijian Media Association executive committee members and Fiji Police Media Cell and supported by the Pacific Media Assistance Scheme (PACMAS).
The Fijian Media Association says they had a wonderful exchange between Fiji media editors and senior officers of the Fiji Police Force.
They further say they shared experiences, discussed challenges, their differences and points of contention and working out solutions on how they both can better serve the public interest.
The FMA adds they are moving past and moving on from some of the very difficult relationships and experiences of the last 16 years.
