Playing against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua in Fiji is a special feeling and weird at the same time.
These were the words of Hurricanes and Fijian winger Salesi Rayasi ahead of his team’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Drua in Suva tonight.
Rayasi says he always gets that special feeling playing in his father’s homeland as he used to watch his father play for the Fiji 7s and Flying Fijians here in Fiji growing up.
He says it was also his childhood dream to one day play for the Flying Fijians but now, playing against the Fijians will be a different feeling.
When asked about their preparation for today’s game, Rayasi says they had a different approach to their preparation for this game this weekend knowing the Drua will be tough to beat at home.
Rayasi is originally from Matuku in Lau and has maternal links to Samoa.
He is the son of former Fiji 7s and Flying Fijians rep Filipe Rayasi.
The Drua will take on the Hurricanes at 7.05 tonight following the Super Rugby Women's semi final clash between the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women and the Western Force at 4.35pm at the same venue.
