Residents of the highlands of Keyasi in Sigatoka can look forward to a more enhanced health care in the near future through the development of a new Keyasi Hospital as plans are in progress by the Ministry of Health to upgrade the Keyasi Health Centre into Keyasi sub‑divisional hospital.
Minister for Health Rosy Akbar visited Keyasi Health Centre yesterday.
Akbar says she is pleased that there is a three year plan to upgrade the health centre into a sub-divisional hospital.
She adds that the initial planning is done and land is already available.
Akbar says the new sub-divisional hospital is going to ease the challenges faced by the nearby rural communities and will enable them to easily access the health services under one roof.
Currently there is a medical officer and three nurses at the Keyasi Health Centre and three nursing stations that cater for over 7000 people from Navosa and Nadroga.
