Good news for pineapple farmers as Food Processors Fiji Limited adds pineapples to their list of value-added products.
While officiating at the launching of the pineapple can, Minister for Agriculture Dr Mahendra Reddy says at times farmers struggle to find market for their produce and given that most of the agricultural products are perishable it poses a risk to our farmers.
Dr Reddy says the country is producing 8500 tons of pineapple in a year at a value of $10.2 million with this new market we will be able to raise the production to $12 million and at least $25 million in five years’ time.
