Outgoing Air Pacific CEO and Managing Director, Dave Pflieger will become the President and CEO of Silver Airways from May this year.

Silver Airways’ Board of Directors have announced that Pflieger, who until May 1st will remain with Air Pacific, will be responsible for the leadership and management of the 14th largest regional airline in terms of number of passengers flown.

Pflieger will oversee Silver Airways' almost 800 employees and 32 aircraft operating over 60,000 flights per year to destinations in Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Montana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and the Bahamas.

Chairman of Silver Airways, Matthew Ray said that Pflieger brings a unique and proven blend of aviation experience and leadership to Silver Airways.

Meanwhile Air Pacific spokesperson, Shane Hussein said that the search by the board and Pflieger for a replacement has already begun at our national airline.

At the Board's request, Pflieger is assisting with the selection of an executive search firm and once that is done, the Board and Pflieger will begin the screening for possible replacement CEO candidates from inside and outside of Fiji.

Hussein said that Dave Pflieger has also agreed to help ensure the smooth and successful transition of a new CEO even after 1st May, should his replacement not be in place by the time he leaves Fiji.

He said that in the interim, the proven and highly capable management team at Air Pacific, supported by its outstanding managers and front line team, will continue to focus on safety, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, employee well being, delivery of new A330s, and the transition to Fiji Airways.

Pflieger is currently in France with Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and the board of Air Pacific to inspect the new A330's.

We have already requested for an interview with Pflieger on his departure after the completion of his three year term with major changes ahead after the decision to move to Airbus planes from Boeing and Air Pacific making a transition to Fiji Airways.
