Hyped teenage rookie Jordan Petaia could be available for Australia's must‑win pool game against Wales at the end of the month in the Rugby World Cup.
Wallabies coach Michael Cheika delivered the good news in Odawara, south‑west of Tokyo, where Australia are preparing for their opening game against Fiji at 4.45pm next Saturday.
Cheika says Petaia's recovery from a hamstring injury was tracking well and could factor him into selection as early as the second pool match on September 29th.
The Wallabies play Wales at Tokyo Stadium in a clash that is likely to decide who tops Pool D, which also features Georgia and Uruguay as well as Fiji.
