TJ Perenara is likely to make a return to international rugby duties after being recalled to the All Blacks wider training squad for tonight’s Bledisloe Cup opener in Auckland.
The 29-year-old was set to play for Wellington in their NPC match against Northland this afternoon but has instead flown back to Auckland as a potential cover for Blues halfback Finlay Christie.
The All Blacks say Christie suffered a shoulder injury while training and the medical staff are assessing his fitness but Perenara has been recalled as cover for the reserve halfback position.
Aaron Smith is starting in the No.9 jersey in his 100th Test tonight, while Brad Weber has been named to the bench.
The All Blacks will face the Wallabies at 7.05 tonight.
