People who had lodged for e‑passports prior to the launch today will not have to pay the new fee of $200 - Vuniwaqa

The Immigration Director Nemani Vuniwaqa says that people who had lodged for e‑passports prior to the launch today will not have to pay the new fee of $200.

He says that the new fee only applies to those who will lodge from today onwards.

The fees for new or renewal of standard e-passports will be $200.

The fees for the urgent processing of new or renewal of standard e-passports will be $275 while the fees for ordinary processing of emergency passports will also be $275.

Urgent processing of new or renewal of passports in the weekend or public holidays will be $608, ordinary processing of lost/stolen/damaged and valid passports will be $400, urgent processing of lost/stolen/damaged and valid passports will be $520.

Vuniwaqa confirms that all these fees are VAT Inclusive.

He says the e-passport is upgraded from a paper based passport to the state of the art document with contactless chip that contain enhanced security features.

Vuniwaqa says this is done to ensure that Fiji’s passport is secure, safe and convenient.

While officiating at the event, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says they have some exciting developments in the months ahead that will expedite work processes and make immigration policies more secure, fair and accountable.
