The Minister for National Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu has stressed that they can only give advice but people need to make responsible decisions as there is another weather system developing.

Seruiratu says that lives were lost in the past because of irresponsible decisions.

He says that the Ministry is hoping that schools will open come Monday especially those that were used as evacuation centres.

Seruiratu says that are also prioritizing cleaning up, restoration of electricity and water, accessibility by roads and clearing of evacuation centers.

He says that they are also providing all the necessary assistance which includes finance to ensure that the people affected are assisted.

Seruiratu says they are also working with FEA, the Water Authority of Fiji and the Fiji Roads Authority on restoration works.
