People living along the Wainibuka River and nearby creeks are advised not to use the rivers and creeks in the area.
Police Spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu says they are still trying to remove the 10 wheeler truck which was transporting toxic material, Sodium Cyanide, when it went off the road in Wailotua, Wainibuka.
Weicavu says they will advise those living along the river accordingly when it’s safe to use water from the river and creek.
Meanwhile, the 40-year-old man who sustained serious injuries when the 10‑wheeler truck went off the road this morning is under observation at the CWM Hospital.
Investigations continue.
