People in low lying areas of Nausori, Naitasiri and Tailevu urged to move to higher ground

People living in the low lying areas of Nausori, Naitasiri and Tailevu are advised to move to higher grounds before nightfall.

Naitasiri Provincial Administrator Koroka Balemaiwai said a number of crossings are already flooded and by this afternoon settlements and villagers in these areas will be affected by the flood waters.

Balemaiwai said some of these crossings include Matainasau, Serea flats, Naivucini, Waidracia and Waila in Naboutavu, Lomaivuna and Viria.

Baleimaiwai said they are closely monitoring these flooded areas as the Naqali flats is also expected to be flooded.

He is urging people to move to their respective evacuation centres now.
