Hundreds of people travelling along the Kings Highway from Suva to Nausori continue to face massive traffic jams during peak traffic hours from Nakasi to Nausori.
Concerns were raised by residents travelling along the Kings Highway from Nausori to Suva about the major traffic jams they encounter during peak traffic hours as people try to make their way to work or when they travel home.
People also raised concerns about road works being conducted before 9am and after 5pm during peak traffic hours.
When questioned by Fijivillage, Fiji Roads Authority CEO Jonathan Moore says that there are obvious disruptions to traffic that is associated with the progressive works on the four lane project adding that these works are moving on time and is looking well to be completed as planned by June this year.

Moore has made it clear that their contractors also work to try and minimize disruptions and they are being monitored to only work outside peak traffic hours which is after 9am and before 5pm.
Moore says that their contractors are well aware that if they are found to be working outside the prohibition times they are given a warning.
He adds that if there is a second offense the contractors are given a formal warning and if there is a third offence the contractors are taken off the job.
The FRA CEO says that their contractors are hoping to complete sealing works and to transfer traffic to the new lanes of the four lane project between Rewa Bridge and 9 Miles, Nakasi in a week’s time if weather permits.
Moore says that after they carry out the planned transfer of traffic onto the new lanes this should ease a lot of the traffic jams to also allow their contractors to work on the old lane of the project.
Meanwhile, good news for motorists as both lanes on Princes Road near Dilkusha are open to traffic.
According to Fiji Roads Authority, the two lanes will remain open however the footpath near the slip will remain closed for safety reasons.
