The Fiji Pearls Netball side put up a fight against 6th placed Malawi side in their Netball World Cup Preliminary Stage 2 clash last night but could not manage to create an upset going down 62-48.
The Malawian side had too much pace and denied the Pearls lots of opportunities.
Despite the loss, Pearls’ goal shooter Maria Rusivakula stood up for her side having a 100 percent rate in her shooting with goal attack Unaisi Rauluni having a hand as well in the 48 points that Fiji managed in the game.
Fiji had more than 50 percent of the ball in the last quarter but it was Malawi who had the better of possession throughout the match, giving their shooters enough chances to keep the scoreboard extending.
Malawi led from the first quarter to the last denying Fiji any chance to get back into the game.
In the first quarter, Malawi led 20-10 before extending their lead to 36-23 at halftime.
Malawi held a 47-34 lead after the third quarter.
The Fiji Pearls will now take on England in their second match of the Preliminary Stage 2 clash at 6am tomorrow.
