Patients still waiting for their heart surgeries at Aspen Medical in Lautoka

Some patients are still waiting for their heart surgeries at Aspen Medical in Lautoka.

A man says that he had initially been informed that a surgical procedure will be performed on him in May and then he was told it will happen in August.

He says he was then told that because of a surgeon not being available, Aspen Medical is not undertaking any surgeries at this stage.

The man also says he had been advised that he has to be treated in India, where he has to pay for his travel and accommodation.

We had earlier spoken to the Aspen Medical about the surgeries and they had said patients have undergone their initial examinations, and a group has been identified as successful candidates for surgical interventions.

We have been sending questions to Aspen Medical in Lautoka since September 22nd and they are yet to respond. We have sent a request again today asking that our questions be answered.

There is still no response.
