The Head of the Catholic Church in Fiji, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong says two of the most important symbols for Easter are the passion and the cross followed by the resurrection of Christ.

In his Easter message, Archbishop Chong says when it comes to religious festivals, themes or meanings are usually contained in symbols.

He says because in these religious festivals are the images of God which we do not have the full language as human beings to talk about.

His Grace says in Jesus’ passion, it refers to the time of his life when he enters into the passive mode where he stops being the doer.

The big message of Easter is how we can bring change and convert to the way we look at the world and each other and that is through the pathway that Jesus has shown us.

Archbishop Chong says that is the pathway of non-violence, vulnerability, as opposed to the power of weapons, money and political authority.
