Schools in Fiji will soon have part-time student mentors to help in the discipline of students and maintain a safe and healthy school environment.
Applications for the positions closed on Friday.
The Education Ministry is yet to confirm the number of positions available.
These part-time student mentors will be working through the Substance Abuse Advisory Council.
According to the Substance Abuse Advisory Council, the part-time student mentors will be initially engaged for 20 weeks during the school academic year.
They will spend 15 hours in a week in their respective school clusters.
The part-time student mentors are required to at least have a Certificate in Primary Teaching.
