Parliament Standing Committee Members Appointed

Assistant Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations and Youth And Sport Alvick Maharaj has been appointed the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee while the Deputy Chairman is the Assistant Minister for Education Joseph Nitya Nand.

Government backbencher Vijendra Prakash, and SODELPA MPs Aseri Radrodro and Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu are the other members of the Public Accounts Committee.

Maharaj has also been appointed as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights while government backbencher Rohit Sharma is the Deputy Chair.

Government backbencher Doctor Salik Govind, and SODELPA MPs  Mosese Bulitavu and Ratu Suliano Matanitobua are the members of the committee.

The Parliamentary Secretariat has also confirmed that Assistant Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Local Government, Housing and Community Development Vijay Nath is the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs while Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Veena Bhatnagar is the Deputy Chair. George Vegnathan and SODELPA MPs Inosi Kuridrani and Ro Filipe Tuisawau are the other members of the committee.

Government backbencher, Sanjay Kirpal has been appointed as the Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Natural Resources while Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development, Waterways and Environment, Jale Sigarara is the Deputy Chair.

Alexander O’Connor and SODELPA MPs Mitieli Bulanauca and Peceli Vosanibola are the other members.

It has also been confirmed that Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development, Waterways and Environment Viam Pillay is the Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Affairs while Assistant Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Foreign Affairs and Sugar Industry George Vegnathan is the Deputy Chair.

Government backbencher, Alipate Nagata, and SODELPA MPs Salote Radrodro and Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu are the other members of the committee.

After the first meeting, the Parliamentary Secretariat has also confirmed that Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services Alexander O’Connor is the Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence while government backbencher, Doctor Salik Govind is the Deputy Chair.
