Parents are once again urged not to purchase any text books for this school year as they have been provided for by the Ministry of Education.
Despite numerous reminders from the Ministry, Fijivillage has noticed that a number of parents have been given book lists where they have been asked to buy text books for their children.
Earlier this year, Education Minister Rosy Akbar had made it clear that schools have been equipped with textbooks, and parents, guardians and students do not need to purchase any text books for the 2019 academic year.
We have received information from some parents that parents and guardians who have children that attend Assemblies of God Primary School have been asked to purchase text books for their children.
Two parents had come forward with complaints relating to the schools asking them to buy text books.
It is also understood that the Ministry has spoken to the school on this matter.
We have sent our questions to the Education Minister.
