The Penrith Panthers has retained their second spot in the NRL points table after a hard-fought 19-12 victory over the Wests Tigers last night.
Viliame Kikau's crunching tackle in the second minute of the first half forced a knock-on from the Tigers which allowed the Panthers to shift the ball that allowed Stephen Crichton to stroll over for the opening try of the match.
The Panthers then put the Tigers to bed when Apisai Koroisau ducked under the defence and broke into the backfield, before finding Dylan Edwards in support.
The fullback slid over for a try, and Nathan Cleary kicked the conversion to give the Panthers a seven-point lead with five minutes remaining.
The Tigers led 10-6 at the break.
The Tigers got reckless as they searched desperately for some late points, as Joseph Leilua received a yellow card for a foul play against Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards.
In other results last night, the Sharks thrashed the Titans 40-10 while the Warriors defeated the Broncos 26-16.
The Sea Eagles will take on the Knights at 6.05 tonight and the Bulldogs will face the Rabbitohs at 8.30 tonight.
