Praising India’s top batsman, Virat Kohli for his match-winning knocks, Pakistan great Shoaib Akhtar says there is “no way that India should not be winning” the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Virat Kohli led an outstanding near-century with 95 runs in 104 balls, while the team held back a New Zealand onslaught to record their fifth win, claiming the triumph with four wickets and 12 balls remaining on Sunday in Dharamshala.

India retained their spot at the top of the points table and are the only team yet to lose in the tournament.

Akhtar credited India’s Mohammed Shami for his performance with the ball before singling out India’s complete roster and claiming the hosts to be the heavy favourites for the cup.

With a maximum of ten points collected and a spot in the knockouts, India takes on England next in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, followed by Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the Netherlands.

India will face England on Sunday at 8.30pm.
