The Pacific Recycling Foundation says the Pacific Recyclers Alliance marked milestone achievements for grassroots recycling efforts and the empowerment of Collection Pillars of Recycling at the 4th Clean Pacific Round Table organised by SPREP in Tuvalu.
PRF Founder and Secretary of the Pacific Recyclers Alliance, Amitesh Deo says the CPRT outcomes are nothing short of historic.
Deo says the newly formed Pacific Recyclers Alliance now unites six National Recyclers Associations, bringing together efforts to harmonize waste management and pollution control across the Pacific.
He says the recognition of the crucial role played by the Collection Pillars of Recycling in member states is a tremendous victory for the thousands of individuals involved in the collection of recyclables across Fiji and other Pacific nations.
Deo says their voices are finally being heard and points out that the term 'Collection Pillars of Recycling” is originally coined by a group of inspiring women in Vunato, Lautoka who were once referred to as waste pickers is now being embraced in regional literature.
