Pacific Cement Limited has confirmed that their Cement Plant has been back in operation for the last 7 days.
Pacific Cement Limited CEO Sowani Tuidrola says that due to pending replacement of a major component, the mill is operating at a capacity of 60% until the end of this month.
Tuidrola adds that the factory should be re-commissioned on the 1st of September at a lower pace and will reach 100% maximum milling and production capacity of 25 tonnes/hour within two weeks.
He says another cause of the delay is the difficulty to find a supplier who can meet the quality standards that is required in Fiji at the right price.
Tuidrola says that Pacific Cement is now working to secure a supplier of quality and affordable cement from overseas and currently in the process of negotiations with their suppliers.
He has also confirmed that Pacific Cement has sufficient clinker for 4 months’ supply at full production capacity.
