As the world looks forward to celebrating Earth Day tomorrow, the Pacific Recycling Foundation is making a call for people to set aside their differences and work together by demonstrating genuine care and commitment to preserving our environment and the earth.

The Founder of the PRF Amitesh Deo says this is also a call to national political leaders especially those in the coalition government to put differences aside and become united for the common good of Fiji, its environment, and its people.

Deo says this global call for unity must start here at home and in particular our political space.

The PRF Founder says Earth Day is marked as a reminder of the need for a collective global unity to take deliberate, meaningful, actions to look after the Earth.

He says Earth Day is to celebrate us as global citizens however, in Fiji there is still a lingering feeling of uncertainty, especially for those in marginalised spaces.

He adds that this Earth Day, we acknowledge the difficult journey of advocacy for the environment and the need to have stability and sustainability to protect our earth.

Deo says if there’s no political stability and political justice, the environmental justice that we’re advocating for will never be achieved.

He further says that as the Foundation continues to change mindsets and behaviour towards best practices, it needs the same level of commitment from the Government, private sector, and development partners.
