The Pacific Recycling Foundation and The Fertile Factory and Company Limited have commenced discussions on a potentially groundbreaking collaboration aimed at advocating sustainability in recycling and agriculture.
PRF says the proposed initiative seeks to tackle plastic waste management and enhance organic farming practices.
The Fertile Factory and Company Limited recently introduced a natural and organic liquid fertiliser called BulaBioBrew Soil, designed to enrich soil biology and improve plant health.
Founder of the Pacific Recycling Foundation, Amitesh Deo says they are excited about the potential to work with The Fertile Factory & Company Limited on a project that could become a first for Fiji.
Deo says if this collaboration progresses, it will support their efforts to reduce plastic waste by ensuring that PET bottles used for packaging BulaBioBrew Soil are captured through our recycling programs and this initiative will contribute to a cleaner environment while supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
He says another key area being explored is the potential for PRF’s sustainability arm, Malhana Cloud Kitchen Restaurant to pilot Bula Bio Brew Soil on its farms, which already operates under a farm-to-table concept.
Deo adds the discussions are focused on whether this pilot could help demonstrate the value of organic fertiliser while also highlighting the importance of plastic waste recycling in agriculture.
The CEO of The Fertile Factory and Company Limited, Sanjeev Chand says the BulaBioBrew Soil has the potential to revolutionise the way farmers care for their soil and by working with PRF, they hope to ensure that the PET bottles they use for packaging do not harm the environment.
Chand says they see a lot of promise in developing a system that encourages recycling and supports sustainable farming practices.
He says though still in the preliminary stages, these discussions between PRF and The Fertile Factory and Company Limited could pave the way for an innovative solution that integrates organic farming with responsible plastic waste management.
