After four years of marriage, 26-year-old Varitema Narara now has her own home and will not have to see her two children only once a week.
Narara who is originally from Qoma, Tailevu is one of the new tenants of Public Rental Board’s Raiwai Housing Project which has 210 flats.
Narara said her two children have not been staying with them and she only used to see them in the weekends.
She said this will now change and the whole family will come together.
A one bedroom flat will cost tenants $99 a week while a two bedroom flat will cost people $111 a week.
The new housing project in Raiwai has 110 one bedroom flats and 100 two bedroom flats.
38 families have so far confirmed to occupy the new units.
The chairperson of the Housing Authority and the Public Rental Board, Narendra Prasad said the tenants will be given a fixed term of three years to occupy the flats.
The Public Rental Board had confirmed earlier this year that the project is expected to cost $18.3 million has been made possible through a $9 million soft loan from the EXIM bank of China through the Fijian Government as well as an additional $9.3 million grant by the Chinese Government to the PRB.
