A Christmas card sent by students of Vatuwaqa Primary School led the Prime Minister to visit them this morning.
Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama visited some schools in Suva with his officials this morning.
He thanked the Class Four students of Vatuwaqa Primary who sent him the card in 2010.
He has assured the management of the school that necessary renovations of the school building will be done in the school holidays.
Head teacher Emori Narawa told the Prime Minister that school was built in 1932, which is no longer safe and they need proper classrooms and a ground.
He added school fees received from 380 students is reinvested in the school.
During his tour, Commodore Bainimarama also raised concern about the poor state of infrastructure at Vatuwaqa Primary School.
Meanwhile, the students told the Prime Minister that they did not receive the bus fare voucher from the Education Ministry and they had to pay from their pocket to get to school this morning.
The school was informed that vouchers would be ready later this week.
However, when the Prime Minister’s officials enquired, the school was told to collect the vouchers later today.
