Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has urged all Fijians to support the national netball team and the sport as a whole as it is about the empowerment of women in Fijian society.

Speaking at the Fiji Pearls Cocktail Fundraiser in Suva last night, the Prime Minister thanked Netball Fiji for driving the bid to host the Netball World Youth Cup in Suva in 2021.

He says such tournaments bring great visibility and the benefits of sports tourism to the country.

Bainimarama also presented commemorative plaques to the Fiji Netball Under 21 team, Baby Pearls, for their great performance at the Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana in July, coming out ranked fourth team in the world.

Netball Fiji collected close to $100,000 last night.
