Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sitiveni Rabuka will undertake official visits to Singapore and Indonesia this week at the invitation of the Singaporean and Indonesian governments, as the visits are part of Fiji’s ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral relations and explore new avenues for cooperation across sectors of shared interest.
Rabuka will visit Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss strengthening economic ties and explore ways to work together on shared priorities for regional and global development.
Fiji and Singapore have maintained strong diplomatic relations since establishing formal ties in 1971.
In Indonesia, the Prime Minister will meet President Prabowo Subianto, where discussions will focus on enhancing Fiji-Indonesia cooperation in key areas such as regional security, education, agriculture and disaster risk management.
Indonesia and Fiji have maintained a warm diplomatic relationship since establishing formal ties in 1974.
PM Rabuka will also engage in a series of official side events during the visits.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka will be acting Prime Minister.
