Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says it is unfortunate that some media organizations are interested in brewing up false drama at the expense of students and people.
While handing over equipment to students of CMF College at Khalsa Road, Bainimarama has also clarified that he does not get paid $3.2m as claimed by a member of parliament. He says these are all lies.
He says other ministers have two or three portfolios and this is to cut down on the number of ministers and to concentrate on things that needs to be done and they only get paid once.
According to the Parliamentary Remunerations Act, the flat base salary inclusive of all allowances for the Prime Minister is $328,750.

Bainimarama also says that only a few days ago there were reports of studying in tents but the reality is that students of that particular school are in brand new school buildings.
He says a media outlet has reported that students are travelling to schools by tubes but in reality, they travel by boat.
Bainimarama says this will not deter the government and their work in education is far bigger than politics.
The Prime Minister says that they have had a great start to the school for students around the country.
He says they have delivered free milk, Weet-Bix and Government purchased text books to every school.
Bainimarama adds that so far they have registered over 63,000 students in the e-ticketing system.
