Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has reminded the Chinese community in Fiji that they are not others but Fijians.

He highlighted this while speaking at the Chinese New Year celebrations at Yet Sen Secondary School today.

Bainimarama says this is because Fiji is one community where we appreciate and help each other to build a truly great and tolerant democracy.

He says this year will be marked by the qualities of the ox which symbolises steadfastness, strength, hard work and perseverance.

The Prime Minister adds that ox work best in teams, and we will need to pull and work together as we rebuild the economy.

Bainimarama also highlighted the COVID-19 vaccines are coming out of the laboratories and the government is making sure that Fiji will get its fair share to be able to vaccinate the people as soon as possible.

He says Fiji will not wait meekly in line to receive this shot of life for the economy. He further says Fiji has been challenged recently as never before as we have weathered two powerful tropical storms recently, but we pulled together to help each other, and we are building back better, as we did after Winston.

Bainimarama adds we stopped the pandemic at our borders.

He says they are hard at work to overcome the challenges of climate change and in all of this, we will win.

The Prime Minister says they want to ensure that Fiji is stronger and safer when opening our borders, and that our people are not left behind from the world’s recovery. Bainimarama also highlighted that Fiji is safe from the COVID-19 virus and we are blessed to be able to celebrate with family and friends.
