With the start of the new school year just around the corner, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama opened a new block of classrooms and teachers quarters at Nasivikoso village school in Ba yesterday.
While speaking at the opening ceremony, Bainimarama highlighted that government will continue to ensure that more classrooms for Year 1 to 3 students are built in rural areas to prevent children from having to live away from their parents when attending school.
He said that government will also ensure that every child in Fiji is given a chance to do their very best and achieve their dreams.
He also told the students present at the event to take advantage of the new facilities, work hard and grow as talented individuals who will be able to accomplish anything and provide a better living for them and their families.
The new block of classrooms and teachers quarters was an initiative by the Prime Ministers Office, International NGO Rustic Pathways and also the community of Nasivikoso, Ba who raised $40,000 dollars.
With the inclusion of the newly built classroom blocks, Nasivikoso village school will now provide classes for 137 students from Year 1 to Year 8.
Before the school was built children from Nasivikoso village had to make long walks to attend Magodro District School in Bukuya, Ba or face the prospect of being boarding students at Natutale Primary school in Wausoi, Navosa.
