Good new for the people of Vatukarasa in Tailevu as they can now access health services close to them following the opening of the Vatukarasa Nursing Station in Tailevu worth half a million dollars.
While officially opening the Nursing Station, Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama says that his government does not see to the development as an expense to government but as an investment.
He says that the new nursing station will service three villages which include Vatukarasa, Nameka and Natuva along with two primary schools and the Coloi Settlement in Tailevu.
Bainimarama also highlighted that for years, people from these villages had to travel to Lomaivuna Nursing Station or the Vunidawa Hospital in Naitasiri for basic medical needs.
The Prime Minister also reassured the villagers that the Ministry of Health will be providing a boat and engine that will allow the new station nurse’s to easily visit villages to provide medical services and important health information to villagers and schoolchildren.
Bainimarama says that this is in line with government creating a healthier population by making medical services more easily accessible.
