The level of care and responsibility we show towards one another is what defines us as a society and it is what defines the Fijian spirit.
This was the sentiment shared by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama while officiating at the opening of the Sri Sathya Sanjeevani Medical Centre in Nasese.
Bainimarama said the opening of the Health Centre that will provide Free Medical Services is a celebration of the greatness that good citizenship can achieve.
He described the Foundation as an inspiration that has set a very high bar in responsible and caring Fijian citizenship.
Bainimarama says its efforts are defining of true Fijian patriots adding that this is what defines good Fijian citizenship.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged that while everyone cannot afford to fund the construction of a new medical centre, everyone can do their part in some way, to make Fiji an even stronger, safer and better place to call home.
He said every member of our society, where they are able, must help make life better for people and look out for those in dire need of assistance.
Bainimarama says everyone should lend a helping hand, everyone should give what they can afford to give and everyone should spend time listening and learning from the struggles and hardships faced by their fellow Fijians.
Meanwhile, the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Medical Centre will offer general outpatient services.
It will also be offering services that look directly at Non-Communicable Diseases that include cardiovascular diseases like heart attacks and stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and diabetes.
Sai Prema Foundation Medical Coordinator Dr Krupali Tappoo says these services are free of charge as they are also targeting to serve low-income earning families and needy people adding that the Health Centre services will be fully operational next month.
