Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has officially opened the Nabubu Village seawall and hall in Macuata, which has been fully funded and supported by the village members of Nabubu and the government.
Rabuka says they are witnessing one of the programs they had thought about many years ago to try and mitigate the effects of climate change.
He says he is grateful to the village members of Nabubu who have participated, some may have passed on, some are still here but the benefits will be felt by those who are here and those that come after us.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the previous government for the construction of the seawall and hall, where they used the materials and labour for the village.
He says work towards the international effort in mitigating the effects of climate change started when he was first Prime Minister when the international community converged in Rio for the first-ever Earth conference.
The completion of both projects benefits approximately 28 households with a population of 83.
