One thousand people in Yasawa Island now have easy and affordable access to transport after they received the Bouwaqa passenger boat and four fibreglass boats and engines worth more than $390,000.
During the handover ceremony, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the passenger boat will be used by the Yavusa Bouwaqa in Teci village on the island of Yasawa.
Bainimarama says the fiberglass boats will be used for the people in Tamusua village, Bukama village and two schools Ratu Apenisa Memorial School in Soso village and Somosomo Village School.
He says the people of Yasawa are going to be able to transport their produce to the mainland at an affordable cost.
