Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has reaffirmed his support to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a message congratulating India on its 73rd Independence Day anniversary.

Bainimarama says he looked forward to strengthening the values shared between the two countries which would continue to serve as a solid platform to raise the level of political dialogue and increase closer collaboration for a stronger Fiji‑India relation.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged India’s timely financial assistance to Fiji’s small and micro enterprises sector through the provision of the Micro and Small Business Grant which has benefitted the lives of many ordinary Fijians.

He says cooperation between the two countries spans across trade, investment, healthcare, communication, education, sports, climate change, renewable energy and resource‑based sectors.

Today, Indians around the world will mark the special occasion with their leader, Prime Minister Mod, expected to hoist their country’s tricolour flag at the Red Fort when delivering his speech to the nation.
