Despite the overall crime rate from 2015 to 2019 decreasing by 18 percent there was an increase in drug offences noted for the same period.
This was revealed at the Fiji Police Force’s Strategic Plan launch today.
In 2015, Police recorded 479 cases of drug offences and in 2019 they recorded 1,222 cases.
According to Police stats, serious crimes decreased from 3,758 to 2,727 cases.
Acting Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu says for the next five years their focus will be people orientated.
Tudravu says they will foster a positive work environment to help officers realize their full potential.
