Tsunamis have the greatest potential to have a devastating impact on a large segment of Fiji’s population.
This was highlighted by Minister for National Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu while officially launching the School Tsunami Drill scheduled to take place in 5 schools in the Nasese area this hour.
He says that because tsunamis can hit with very little or no warning, adequate preparedness is of utmost importance.
Seruiratu stresses that proper planning for a tsunami will save the lives of our loved ones adding that to achieve this goal, we need to ensure Fiji is constantly ready and prepared for a tsunami.
Over 3000 students with 150 teachers and staff from 5 schools will be part of today’s School Tsunami Drill conducted by the National Disaster Management Office.
The schools are Suva Grammar, Veiuto Primary, Stella Maris Primary, Sacred Heart College and Draiba Primary School.
