More than 250 workers of Fiji Ports Terminal Limited received a total bonus payout of more than $280,000 today at Kings Wharf in Suva.

Fiji Ports Terminal Limited Chairman Hasmukh Patel says the productivity and efficiency of the Suva and Lautoka ports have improved tremendously over the last three years which led to a big bonus payout.

Patel says workers deserve these bonuses as they are the core contributors to the success of Ports Terminal.

The bonus will be given to around 250 workers depending on their grades.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says he hopes Fiji Ports keeps up this momentum of improving profitability.

He says there must always be a need for the right people to do the right job then all will fall into place.

Meanwhile, Patel also announced that Fiji Ports Terminal Limited will also be part of government’s Adopt a School Program and they have adopted Vashist Muni Primary School in Tavua.

He says the total cost of the school repairs is $117,000.

Patel adds that some students in the country are still using tents as classrooms and they want to help them get the right form of education by providing them with the right facilities.
