Over 1.8 million tonnes of cane was crushed in the 2019 season, which is 6% higher than last year.
The Fiji Sugar Corporation says 168,702 tonnes of sugar was produced this crushing season which is 5% higher than last year.
It says sugar content deteriorated by 2% this year and rainfall during the harvesting season, temperature differences and low sunshine hours were identified as major contributors to the decline.
The FSC says high extraneous matter in cane and a high percentage of burnt cane crushed also affected sugar recoveries.
