Over 12,000 students from various schools took advantage of the University of the South Pacific's Open Day at their Laucala, Lautoka and Labasa campuses today, and explored opportunities under the theme "Our People, Our Story."
The event highlights USP's commitment to empowering students through a diverse range of programs, activities, and resources, offering them a firsthand experience of the university’s unique environment.
In an interview with fijivillage News, Year 13 student from Baulevu High School, Immanuel Tama says he comes from Naganivatu in Naitasiri and being from the interior, students like him rarely get such opportunities to explore places like this.
Tama says he is thrilled to be given the opportunity to experience USP’s campus for the first time.
He says he is impressed by the environment and resources at USP and is encouraging other students to consider the university for its wide range of offerings.
Tama also sent his best wishes to fellow Year 13 students, hoping they succeed in their exams.
Meanwhile, final-year USP student, Asenata Soliman Rodzini who is majoring in Law and Psychology, describes her time at USP as eye-opening, filled with educational and memorable experiences.
Rodzini also highlighted USP’s regional presence and numerous branches, which opens doors for students and offers opportunities to engage with experts from various sectors, embodying this year’s theme.
Rodzini rates the resources at USP an 8 out of 10, acknowledging that while there is room for improvement, students have easy access to all the support they need.
She is encouraging prospective students to fully explore the campus during the Open Day, as it allows them to discover what aligns with their passion and where they want to excel.
