More than one hundred people will celebrate the New Year for the last time at Vunidogoloa village in Cakaudrove before moving to a new site.
Village headman Sailosi Ramatu said the move is due to the rising sea level as a result of climate change.
Ramatu said a feast and church service is being planned to celebrate the new year, following which the villagers will move into the 30 new houses that have been built.
Vunidogoloa is located along the coast of the Natewa Bay and is the first village in the country to relocate because of climate change.
Government allocated $310,000 to help move the villagers and also build the new homes.
