Over 10 vehicles have been confiscated and taken to the Land Transport Authority Headquarters in Valelevu.
LTA’s CEO, Samuel Simpson says these vehicles were modified and not roadworthy in accordance with regulations.
Fijivillage witnessed a number of LTA officers inspecting vehicles on Queen Elizabeth Drive in Suva and this included public service vehicles.
The modifications include illegal tints, illegal exhaust (hot dogs), mufflers, and hot dogs system causing noise.
Simpson says vehicle owners have been summoned and LTA will carry out the process before returning the vehicles.
He says vehicle owners need to seek prior approval from LTA before carrying out modifications of vehicles from manufacturers of original specifications.
