Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho

Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says they have approximately 1,500 extra police officers deployed specifically for assistance to the Fijian Elections Office for the conduct of the elections today.

While speaking during a press conference at the Result Centre at the FMF Gym, Qiliho says their mission is simple which is to provide secure, stable and conducive environment for the successful conduct of elections.

He says they have successfully finished with the pre-polling operations and have used that manpower to surge operations in other areas.

The Commissioner says there has been an increased police presence in the last 24 hours not only specifically for elections but for the school holidays as well as the festive season.

He is urging people to be mindful of the security of their home and their vehicles while coming up to vote.

Qiliho adds says they are also well postured for post election operation during counting and thereafter.
