It is a sin to ignore the issue of climate change and as Christians, we must address it for the common good because we should be responsible for the climate.
Archbishop of the Catholic Church of Fiji, Peter Loy Chong highlighted this during the Public Lecture on Climate Change and stressed that the victim's narrative of climate change is not amplified.
Chong says the church and other faith-based communities must spread the word for the common good of humanity.
He says as humans, we are capable of being the worst and we are also capable of rising above ourselves choosing what is good, and making a good start for the betterment of all.
The Archbishop emphasises the emergency statement by Pope Francis stresses the moral imperative of addressing climate change.
He says the message aligns well during this time of lent which is a time of conversion to change, not only changing the spiritual conversion of people's hearts but the ecological conversion of how we treat our environment.
Chong reiterates that as Christians one of our virtues is that we are people of hope and let us hope that we can all create that good within ourselves and communities.
