We’ve seen the movies and cast our picks, but as Hollywood’s biggest night draws near, there’s only one question in mind: Who will take home the Oscar?

Celebrities will walk the red carpet and take their seats for the 84th Academy Awards which kicks-off at 12.30pm today.

This year, nine nominees vie for Best Picture: “The Artist”, “The Descendants”, “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close”, “The Help”, “Hugo”, “Midnight in Paris”, “Moneyball”, “The Tree of Life” and “War Horse”.

3D family film “Hugo” comes in with nominations in 11 different categories, the most of any movie, followed by the essentially silent film “The Artist” with 10.

“The Descendants” star George Clooney seemed to be hanging on to the lead in the best actor category, with Jean Duzardan from “The Artist” coming in a close second on the index.

Clooney’s friend, Brad Pitt who starred in “Moneyball” is followed behind in third place.

“Iron Lady” Meryl Streep is keeping her lock on the best actress race, but Viola Davis, star of “The Help”, and “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” star Rooney Mara are closing the gap.

Supporting actor Christopher Plummer and supporting actress Octavia Spencer are still holding onto the lead in their respective categories on the index.

Meanwhile, Fiji Fashion Week is holding Fiji’s first ever Oscars Event to celebrate the 84th Annual Academy Awards.

The Oscars will be beamed direct from Hollywood 1.00pm Fiji Time at the Eden Restaurant in Bureta Street, Tamavua.

The event is expected to attract 250 guests who will also be able to vote in a sweepstake for the winners in each category.
