The opposition launched an attack on the Chief Executive Officer of Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Joel Abraham in yesterday’s Parliament sitting claiming he was biased while giving his views during last year’s general elections.
SODELPA’s Viliame Gavoka says he was disappointed during the last general elections as a CEO that he respected and admired the way he ran his office was expressing his opinion on some of the economic issues or the manifestos of the political parties competing in the elections.

Gavoka says Abraham had compromised his position during the last general elections.
He made this comment while contributing during the debate on the Consolidated Report on the Fiji Commerce Commission 2014 and 2015 Annual Reports.

NFP’s President Pio Tikoduadua also shared similar sentiments saying Abraham is paid by the taxpayers and chose to campaign by maligning others under the guise of his so-called public consultations.
Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum defended Abraham who was sitting in the public gallery saying the CEO of Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission was only talking about the impacts of the policies of the political parties and helping people make informed decisions.

Sayed-Khaiyum says they have said so many times that they wish that when they have general elections or National Budget Addresses, they have independent professionals critiquing it.
