An open day has been organized for the Bilo Battery Gun Site which stands as a physical reminder of the World War two in Fiji.
The Bilo Battery Gun Site was an important part of the Fiji Defense Force during the war which broke out in September 1939 and lasted until 1945.
According to the Fiji Museum, while there are no guns at the site however, the underground ammunition storage is still there.
Bilo Battery withstood a deadly and powerful hurricane during February 1941 despite damage to most of the infrastructure in Suva.
The site is located in Lami.
