The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has reminded Fijians that only licensed providers are authorised to retail electricity services in Fiji.

The FCCC says that any consumer who wishes to purchase electricity must ensure that they acquire electricity services from an authorised source.

FCCC General Manager, Senikavika Jiuta says consumers must be aware that relevant laws exist to protect all Fijians from faulty services and certain standards must be met and maintained by providers.

Consumers are also reminded to exercise caution before they engage in third-party providers for electricity even if its through renewable sources like solar, wind, thermal or any other means of electricity generation.

EFL is currently the only authorised electricity service provider in transmission and retail in the country.
