Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says they hope to have the Nadi River Project up and running soon.

While speaking at the Nadi River Flood Alleviation Project's Workshop 1, Sayed-Khaiyum says they anticipate one of the study reports on the Nadi River Project to be completed by October this year and more studies are expected next year.

Fiji and Japan have collaborated on a comprehensive flood control master plan for Nadi

Sayed-Khaiyum says the project is estimated to cost about $400 million and is essential to improve the flood and natural disaster management for Nadi.

He says they need to have this rehabilitation work done.

Sayed-Khaiyum also highlighted some of the corrupt practices that happened in Nadi in terms of drainage in the 1990s.
